In the shelter’s words
Starting October 6, all cats and kittens are FREE to adopt! Come find your new best friend today!Meet Nimbus ☁️ Nimbus is a 5-year-old sweetheart who came to us as an owner surrender when his previous family could no longer care for him. He arrived with his sister, who has since been adopted, and now Nimbus is patiently waiting for his turn. While they shared their journey to us, they do not need to be adopted together. Nimbus is ready to find a loving home all his own. Nimbus can be shy when meeting new people, taking a little time to decide if you're someone he can feel safe with. But once he knows you're part of his circle, everything changes. He'll stand up the moment you walk into the room, trot over with soft curiosity, and offer a tiny meow as his way of saying hello. It's a quiet, sweet gesture that shows just how much your presence matters to him. With a bit of patience and kindness, Nimbus blossoms into a loyal, tender companion who loves sharing those small, meaningful moments. One of the quickest ways to Nimbus's heart is at mealtime. He loves his food and will happily greet his favorite people with affectionate leg rubs as he waits for his meal to arrive. While he's becoming more confident every day, sudden movements and loud activity can still startle him, so he'll do best with a family that understands his sensitive nature and allows him to approach new things at his own pace. Nimbus is looking for a low-traffic home where he can truly relax and settle in. A calm environment with predictable routines will help him feel secure and allow his sweet personality to shine. He dreams of a cozy spot by the window, a soft bed to curl up in, and a family that understands that trust is something special that's built over time. If you have a soft spot for the shy ones and the patience to let trust grow, Nimbus could be your perfect match. Nimbus's adoption fee is $0.Please note: All of our animals are spayed/neutered and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Each pet also receives a behavioral assessment to help us better understand the type of home they may thrive in. However, it’s important to remember that the results may not fully reflect an animal’s true personality, as shelter and foster environments can be stressful. If you are interested in meeting any of our animals, we encourage you to first visit our website and submit an adoption application: https://www.acskc.org/adopt-1Once your adoption application has been approved, we will call you to set up an appointment to meet with the pet! We welcome adopters from out of state to apply! _When it comes to our pets, we're all-inclusive! Once you’re ready to adopt, head over to our Adoption Application to fill out and submit the form. Once our Adoption Team has reviewed and approved your application, we will give you a call to schedule an appointment with the pet! When you arrive at ACSKC, you will be greeted by our Adoption Coordinator and taken to meet the pet, either in our Meet and Greet Room or one of the play yards. If you already have pets in the home, you may be asked to bring them with you for a meet and greet to ensure they will get along in the home (this typically only applies to dogs). If you and our Adoption Coordinator feel like it is a good match, we will then finalize the paperwork and send you home with a bag of goodies, including our “Welcoming Your New Pet Home Guide,” toys, treats and a sample bag of their pet food. If it is not a good match, you are welcome to meet the other available pets in the shelter. Your approved application will be kept on file for 90 days, so you’re encouraged to take your time before making a decision!
