In the shelter’s words

Meet Cosmo D DOB: May 13, 2025 Weight: 30 lbs Breed: Black Mouth Cur / Terrier Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Cosmo D is a deeply loving, loyal boy who is just looking for someone willing to truly be there for him. He was returned through no fault of his own—simply because his previous home was not ready to commit to his needs. Despite that, Cosmo continues to love wholeheartedly, showing just how special and devoted he truly is. Personality Cosmo is affectionate, loyal, and very people-focused. He forms strong bonds and thrives on connection. He enjoys being close, following his person, and feeling part of a home. He is already trained and well-mannered, making him a wonderful companion with a solid foundation. Training & Behavior House trained Leash trained Understands home structure Struggles with being left alone (separation anxiety) Cosmo is still learning how to feel safe when alone and will need continued guidance and support in this area. Breed Info As a Black Mouth Cur / Terrier mix, Cosmo brings: Loyalty and strong attachment to his people Intelligence and responsiveness A loving, devoted nature This mix creates a dog who is deeply connected and eager to be part of a family, thriving with companionship and engagement. Ideal Home Cosmo would do best in a home where someone is present most of the time or willing to work with him through his separation anxiety. He needs a patient, understanding adopter who sees his attachment not as a burden, but as a reflection of how deeply he loves. Owner Responsibilities Cosmo will need: Consistent routine and structure Gradual training to build confidence when alone Patience and positive reinforcement to help him feel secure Daily exercise and engagement His adopter should be committed to working through separation anxiety, which may include training, enrichment, and possibly guidance from a professional trainer if needed. He will thrive in a home that provides stability, reassurance, and presence. Things to Consider Cosmo’s separation anxiety means he is not suited for a home where he will be left alone for long periods. He needs someone who understands that his need for closeness comes from loyalty and trust, and is willing to help him build confidence over time. Dogs like Cosmo often become the most devoted companions, but they require commitment, patience, and consistency. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With the right support, Cosmo will continue to grow and thrive. Veterinary Care Cosmo is fully vetted and in good health. We recommend continuing care with your veterinarian for: Routine wellness exams Preventative care (flea, tick, heartworm) Ongoing health monitoring Maintaining consistent veterinary care will support his long-term well-being. Important Note Cosmo is an indoor family dog. He is not to be chained or left outside.
