In the shelter’s words
Meet Ballita! DOB: February 2024Weight: 49lbsDisposition: Active, Playful, SweetHistory: Ballita was one of three siblings who were left in a taped-up box outside the shelter. They were extremely weak from the heat but survived and are now looking for their forever homes.Amazing Qualities: Ballita is an energetic, playful girl with a sweet side. She loves to run and play and has plenty of enthusiasm for life. Her name comes from a type of horse because the refuge owner's husband thought she looked like one, and she certainly has the spirited energy to match!Best Home: Ballita would be a great fit for an active family that enjoys playtime and outdoor activities. She's good with dogs and children and loves to run and play. She can be a little shy and apprehensive, so she'll appreciate an adopter who gives her time to feel comfortable.Interested in adopting? If you're interested in meeting Ballita, please visit our website to fill out an adoption application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adopt. Our dogs are located in San Diego County, CA. We will happily consider out of town applications and can conduct virtual play dates with interested adopters. We have monthly transport to various locations in the Pacific Northwest, individual arrangements would need to be made for other locations across the US and Canada.About Angeles en Camino:This dog is part of Angeles en Camino ("Angels on the Way"), a cross-border rescue mission bringing adoptable dogs from Manzanillo, Mexico, to loving homes in Southern California. Sponsored by the Mayor's Office of Manzanillo and made possible through a partnership between Animal Angels ZLO and The Barking Lot, this initiative gives vulnerable dogs a second chance at life while connecting two communities through rescue. To initiate the adoption process for this dog, please complete our online application by clicking below. Your adoption coordinator will respod to you via email once they receive your application: www.thebarkinglot.net/adopt

Our goal is to find the right match for each pooch based on lifestyle, energy level, exercise regime, environment and living situation. To ensure we find a great match for each pup, the process includes: 1) Filling out an Adoption Application. 2) a play date with your furry friend, 3) a home check of the potential adopter, 4) an adoption contract, 5) an adoption fee. The adoption fees include spay/neuter, up-to-date shots, rabies vaccination, microchip & microchip registration, de-worming and the benefit of getting a pooch who has been living in a stable and loving environment. Dogs are fostered in our homes to create the same type of environment into which each will be adopted. We strive to meet each pup's needs in terms of exercise, socialization and basic manners, including potty training.
