In the shelter’s words

Millie (AL) is only about 15 months old, but her little heart has already weathered more than most dogs ever should. This Long Haired Chihuahua mix was given away to someone who then tossed her outside for four days with no food, no water, and no kindness. When rescuers finally reached her, Millie’s sad, soulful face said everything — she had been waiting for someone to notice she mattered. And she does matter. Millie is a gentle, sensitive girl who needs a moment to feel safe with new people. She’s not shy because she’s stubborn — she’s shy because she remembers what it felt like to be forgotten. But once she realizes you’re one of the good ones, she softens like sunshine. Her tiny tail starts to wag, her eyes brighten, and she leans in with the sweetest, quiet devotion. She’s wonderful with dogs and cats, and she finds comfort in their company. Millie would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can blossom at her own pace and learn that love doesn’t disappear. If you’re the kind of person who sees beauty in resilience… if you have room in your heart for a small dog with a big story… Millie is waiting for you.
