In the shelter’s words
MEET TARKAN — THE GENTLE GIANT WHO ALMOST DIDN’T MAKE IT Just minutes stood between Tarkan and the end of his story at West Valley Animal Shelter But someone saw him. Someone stepped in. And because of that moment, this incredible boy is here today—alive, safe, and ready to love with his whole heart. Tarkan isn’t just a dog… he’s a presence. A stunning Turkish Kangal Shepherd mix with soulful eyes, a goofy charm, and a heart as big as his paws. ✨ About Tarkan: • ~4 years old • Turkish Kangal Shepherd mix • 72 lbs • Vaccinated, neutered & microchipped • Extremely loving and people-friendly • Loyal, affectionate, and wonderfully goofy Tarkan is the definition of a gentle giant. He leans in for hugs, follows you like your shadow, and gives the kind of love that feels steady, safe, and real. The kind you don’t forget. He’s currently working with trainers and making great progress with his socialization. He wants to learn. He wants to trust. And with the right person, he’s going to absolutely flourish. What does Tarkan want most? A safe place. A loving human. A forever home where he never has to wonder if he’ll be left behind again. He came so close to losing everything. Now he deserves everything good this world has to offer. Tarkan is available for adoption, foster, or foster-to-adopt. If you’re ready for a once-in-a-lifetime dog—the kind who will change your life in the best possible way—reach out. Let’s give Tarkan the ending he’s been waiting for.
