In the shelter’s words
The yellow-bellied slider is an intelligent, interactive semi-aquatic turtle recognized by its striking olive-green shell and bright yellow markings on the skin and plastron. This species thrives with both ample swimming space and a dry basking area. Diurnal and curious, they often recognize their caretakers and enjoy a balanced omnivorous diet of high-quality pellets, leafy greens, and occasional insects. With a warm basking spot (85â90°F) and consistent water maintenance, yellow-bellied sliders can be rewarding, long-term companions, living 20â40 years with proper care.
