Nina Simone came to us in May of 2024 from CACC after being surrendered for euthanasia when her owner could no longer keep her. Nina is a 4 year old tri-paw that weighs about 50 lbs. She doesn’t let the fact that she’s a tri paw hold her back — she loves walks, can hop into a car with ease, and has no issues with stairs! Nina’s ideal home is one where she can be an only pet. She is housebroken and crate-trained and has made great progress with learning to relax in her crate. She absolutely LOVES toys and will happily show them off to you. Nina is a really sweet girl with her people. She can be barky meeting new people. Nina is a typical GSD that bonds strong with her person. She has completed a board and train program and knows commands including sit, down, stay, place, and heel. Nina is super smart and loves to learn. She has so much potential and love to give, and we’re hoping her special person is out there!

Adoption/Foster Requirements Applicant must be 21 years of age or older and have consent of all members of the household to foster and/or adopt Must be willing to allow a home inspection from a GSR representative Reside in the Chicagoland area If the applicant rents, they agree to allow GSR to contact their landlord and will need to provide proof of permission to have a German Shepherd Adoption Fees Adoption fees include spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccines, heartworm/ fecal testing and microchip. The adopter will also be provided a leash, collar, name tag, and bag of food if needed. Under 1 year â $400 1 â 5 years â $350 6 â 7 years â $250 8+ â $200 * special adoption fees are available for bonded pairs. Seniors (65+) can adopt a senior GSD for $150. GSR is a partner of Pets for Patriots, which works with veterans to assist in adopting overlooked/special needs dogs.
