In the shelter’s words
Ruby Grace is a sweet, affectionate young girl who loves being close to her people. She enjoys attention and cuddles and will happily crawl into your lap after a little playtime. Ruby gets excited for fun, especially when tennis balls are involved, and she is very entertaining with her toys. She is curious about the world and enjoys staying busy, so durable chew toys and regular activity are important for her. Ruby walks well on a leash and likes to walk or run. She is cautious at first but very friendly when people approach. She rides well in the car once helped inside and settles nicely. Ruby is dog friendly and would enjoy having another playful dog to spend time with. Ruby has gone on a few sleepovers with volunteers. She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate, and eats and drinks well without being picky, and is very curious. She knows sit, lay down, and roll. She wants to please, which will make her easy to train with consistency. Ruby enjoys toys, playtime, and being part of daily activities with her family. Ruby was born on 4/28/24 and weighs about 32 lbs. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. Ruby is looking for a loving, inside home where she can get plenty of exercise, enrichment, and affection. In September 2026, she joined the Leash on Life Prison Pup Program where she will work on manners and basic training. *************************************************************************** This pet comes with an implanted 24 PetWatch microchip and free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. *************************************************************************** This dog is available for adoption at the Humane Society of McCormick County for an adoption fee. Our adoption process starts with an interview. We want to know what type of cat or dog they are looking for, their lifestyle, and their expectations. Then we set up a meet and greet either at the shelter, a pet store, or at their home. Then they fill out an adoption contract. We offer and encourage potential adopters to take the dog or cat home on foster-to-adopt for a few weeks before finalizing the adoption. Our adoption fee is $65 for cats and $125 for dogs which included spay or neuter and vaccinations and for dogs, it includes a microchip. Cats can be microchipped upon request.
