In the shelter’s words
Elmo is currently enrolled in the 12-week Puppies 4 Parole program through the Mo Department of Corrections. He will graduate towards the end of November and will be available for adoption at that time. If you are interested in adopting Elmo, please complete an application and the foster parent will contact you. Do you love a daper, shy, but loving dog? One who can zoom with the best of them? Then Elmo is your guy! Elmo is very slow to warm up and unsure of new people. Once you give him a chance though he is all tail wags, hops, and zoomies. He is mostly unsure of young children, so he would be best in a home with no kids or older kids. He’s got a lot of love to give but needs training and patience to get there. In his foster home he’s jokingly called Paul anka. Those Gilmore girl fans understand. Figuring out his quirks is just part of what makes him so fun. I mean look at that face how can you say no? Fence necessary due to door darting and getting scared and wanting to run Potty trained Loves to lay outside Requires training If you are interested, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Elmo’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter.

Adopters will complete an adoption application which is sent to the dog's foster parent. Their personal and veterinarian references will be checked, a home visit conducted, and then the foster parent will set up a meeting where the adopters will meet the dog. If the adoption is approved, the adopter will then complete an Adoption Contract and the dog is theirs! Adoption fees are $275 for most dogs.
