Please note there is no need to complete an adoption questionnaire on this page. We only need our Adoption Application Questionnaire completed at: https://www.catfurr.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (please copy/paste link) September 17, 2026 If you were wondering about our kitty in foster, “FLOUNDER”, he is doing GREAT & is well loved!!! Flounder is one of the Atlantic Seafood rescued cats that had a rough time for a while. He was sick for a couple of months while i treated him. He had to have ALL his teeth removed! He slowly got better & was ready to go! Due to the overcrowding at FURR, one of our devoted volunteers, Seamus, agreed to foster Flounder. BUT! Seamus and his lovely family had previously adopted Lioness (the little kitten i rescued at Food Lion). Lioness is also doing great, but she never did like other kitties! Seamus kept Flounder in a separate room for a while, but eventually let him out little by little to meet Lioness. It was rough at first with Lioness complaining a lot about Flounder, but just like I try to tell EVERYONE!!! Look at these pictures & see what time, love & patience can do!!! Hoping, eventually, Flounder will become permanently part of their family. They are considering it!!! April 2026 - Flounder is doing great! I took him to the vet this past week (along with several other cat visits to Sound Cat!) and repeated his PCR test (swab eyes & back of throat). He was a trooper & no sedation needed. I just held him & he knew I was with him. He has really come a long long way from being VERY feral to just a “mushster”! Will take a few days to get the results, but hoping PCR will show that he is not contagious any more for the calici virus (Kitty pneumonia) which is contagious. It is much less contagious to cats that are vaccinated & all of ours have been, but airing on the side of caution. Just cant wait to get him out of that bathroom he has been locked up in for EIGHT weeks! Say a prayer for FLOUNDER! Enjoy his video! March 2026 - Flounder doing great! Eating, playing, purring, talking and overall doing much better, but still a bit congested. Very affectionate! Feb. 2026 - After successful dental surgery, Flounder is not doing well in recovery this week. Flounder is the little black feral I took to Sound Cat last Monday & had all his teeth pulled (to the tune of $1,700!!!), but unfortunately, he has not done well so far. I dropped him off at Sound Cat, our Vet, this am. He is not eating, he is very lethargic & quite congested. Please say a prayer for this little feral cat. He doesn’t deserve any of this! For the fast couple of weeks, I noticed him, one of the black feral kitties in the FURR Sanctuary, seemed thin, lethargic and not well. I noticed that Flounder started to seem congested also, so I had to get him to the vet. After several days, I finally got Flounder in my net and got him to Sound Cat. It is so difficult to care for a feral colony because the cats are not tame. It is extremely difficult to catch them. Flounder had horrible breath, horrible teeth and needs a full mouth of dental extractions! He also had a horrible infection and was dripping bloody mucus from his nose as you can see in this photo. How painful and horrible for him! He is scheduled for dental surgery on Feb. 16. It will cost around $1,200 – $1,500 for him in addition to the $300 I’ve already spent from his original vet assessment last week. Meet all FURR kitties available for adoption on PetFinder! For adoption information or to schedule a visit to the Feline Urgent Rescue & Rehab rescue facility to meet this kitty, please email FURR’s President and Founder, Terry Schultz, at adoptafurrcat@gmail.com. Learn how to adopt this kitty! FURR adopts to the Wilmington/Hampstead NC and surrounding area only and to approved homes. If you are not ready to adopt a kitty, please consider fostering or sponsoring. All donations are tax deductible.
