In the shelter’s words

Birthdate: 04/20/2022Breed: One of a kindWeight: 66.1 lbsCheck out My Video: Rollin’ into happinessMeet Garlic – Your New Best Friend with a Heart of Gold! With a muscular build and a perfectly imperfect off-centered forehead stripe, Garlic is the picture of charm and character. This stoic yet sweet pup has a goofy streak that’ll steal your heart in an instant. He’s the kind of dog who reminds you to slow down and enjoy the little things—like sniffing every flower on your walk or soaking up the sun with a smile on his face.Garlic is a total toy enthusiast, showing off his gentle manners and his impressive Olympic-worthy jumps whenever his favorite ball comes out. And when playtime’s over? He’s all about leaning in for some back scratches and good company.Grateful for every friend he meets, Garlic is ready to find someone who’ll love strolls, sunshine, and snuggles just as much as he does - and a hike with endless scents and sights? His dream come true! One of our lovely volunteers wanted to share a little bit more about our Garlic. "Garlic is a sweet, gentle boy, who would play all day if you let him. He enjoys fetch and will almost hand the ball back to you . He also likes to play tug. Garlic walks nicely on the leash, and loves to sit beside you to enjoy lots of pets, he is the best boy ever!" If Garlic were a destination, he’d be Italy — bursting with life, color, and curiosity at every turn. Like Italy, he’s full of joy and warmth, always inviting you to slow down and savor the moment. He has that irresistible charm that makes you fall in love without even realizing it. Exploring with Garlic is like wandering cobblestone streets and sunlit hills — every corner holds something new, vibrant, and full of heart. Once you’ve experienced his companionship, you’ll carry the memory with you forever. A note from Garlic's rescue Buddy: His favorite things are playing catch in the play yards with balls and stuffy toys. He's really good at letting you know if he wants to play tug of war or fetch. He does not guard at all when we are out and if you simply stop tugging on a toy, he'll give it right up since he knows you'll toss it. He's also been doing well on the trail - we had a biker fly up behind us very close (almost hit us) and I got startled and shouted, but Garlic didn't even bat an eye - so proud of him! He walks like a dream on leash, and only pulls a bit when he sees a dog he wants to pull toward. Walk-ins are welcome! Stop by during our open hours to meet our available dogs!!Before you can adopt, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/36924/generic. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.
