In the shelter’s words
Meet Aldo! Aldo was adopted out years ago from MPBR and unfortunately, his owner passed away so he is back in rescue looking for a home. Name: Aldo Nicknames: Bud, Buddy, Bub Age or Date of Birth: 11 years old Activity Level: I’m a senior guy, but you can tell I’ve been feeling good because I’ve become much bouncier and more energetic. I love to go on walks! I have a bit of trouble on steep stairs and I have trouble backing up, so if I’m in a position where I want to backtrack, I’ll turn around. I also looooove to snuggle, so if you’re looking for a couch buddy, I’m your guy! Things I do in my free time: I love, love, LOVE getting pets and cuddling with my humans. I want to be near them and touching them at all times. I will lift their hands or arms with my head or paw to let them know they shouldn’t stop petting me. I love toys! Squeaky toys that I can shred and tear are the best. I also love chasing squirrels. I haven’t caught one yet, but it’s not for lack of trying. Napping! I especially love when my humans are reading or watching TV and I can be cuddled with them while I snooze. Things I know: My name, hungry, outside. My foster parents are still figuring out what I know. Things I am learning/currently working on: Getting used to city sounds. I’m a country boy, so these normal city sounds are new to me. Waiting to be invited onto the human bed instead of just jumping up to join them. Who I currently live with (humans and animals): Two adult humans and a female dog. How I do with kids: Not sure How I do with dogs: I do great with my sister dog! She lets me know when she doesn’t want me near her and I listen. I came from a house with two other female dogs and got along with both of them. Also, when I’m out on walks I notice other dogs barking, but am not bothered by it. How I do with cats: Not sure My current size: Last vet appointment said 72 lbs. How I do in my kennel: I’m working on being in the kennel – it seems like it wasn’t used in my previous home or hasn’t been for a while. How I do in car rides: I am happy not being left behind and love having my head out the window. Am I house trained? Yes! I will go to the back door and stare at it to let my foster parents know I need to go outside. Additional Info from foster: Aldo is such a love bug! He wants nothing more than to be getting pets, going for a walk, or chewing on toys. He loves treats and takes them like a champ! He’s still getting used to city sounds, so he’ll bark at things he hears, but if I say “Aldo,” he stops. He loves to follow us around the house and wants to make sure he’s not missing anything. He’s currently getting Cosequin and Ursolyx supplements for his joints and muscles, and they’re definitely helping. He’s much bouncier than he was before he was taking those. He’s great on walks, but we’re working on his leash manners. He’s mainly just really excited to get going and wants to walk ahead of you. His walks aren’t super long, though, because he gets a bit worn out. So if you want someone to join you on shorter walks or a fur baby to snuggle on the couch with you, he’s your guy! Adoption fee is waived.
