In the shelter’s words

Hi I'm Serrano a red-eared slider, and I'll grow to about 6-8 inches if I'm male or 10-12 inches if I'm female. I can live 20-30 years or more, so I'm a long-term commitment. My ideal home is a secure outdoor pond with plenty of swimming space, though I can also thrive in a large indoor aquarium with clean, filtered water. I need a dry basking area, UVB and heat lighting (if kept indoors), and a healthy diet of turtle pellets, leafy greens, and occasional protein. I may not enjoy being handled often, but with the right care, I'll be an active and rewarding companion for many years. If you are interested in adopting, please visit www.spcamc.org/exotics to fill out an adoption application or call SPCA Wildlife . Plan a visit with the source organization

1. Visit the SPCA at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway across from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. 2. Visit with the pet you are interested in adopting to see if his personality fits your lifestyle. If you are adopting a dog, you can meet him in one of our new dog condo rooms or play in one of our play yards. 3. Complete family introductions (every member of the family living in the house with the animal must meet and visit with the animal prior to adoption to ensure a happy fit for everyone). 4. If you are adopting a new dog and already have one at home, our animal care staff will assist you with introducing your current dog to the dog you are hoping to adopt to ensure a good match. 5. The SPCA adoption process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All paperwork, vaccination records, and microchip information will be provided at this time. Adoption fees range from $20 to $290. 6. Take your new lifelong family member home!
