This cat has a congenital/developmental condition known as pectus excavatum, which is characterized by an inward deviation/curve of part of his sternum (breastbone). This deviation can be palpated and was further evaluated via thoracic radiographs. Fortunately, this is a non-painful condition and the severity in this kitten's case is mild and therefore not expected to affect his respiratory function or his overall health, comfort, or quality of life.
