In the shelter’s words
Meet Honeydew Honeydew is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart… and never gives it back. She’s a petite, ~44 lb black Lab mix with the softest eyes and the gentlest soul. A little shy at first, Honeydew is the kind of girl who just needs a moment — and then she melts into you completely. Her Story Honeydew was abandoned at a shelter with her 11 puppies… and after they were all adopted, she was left behind and placed on the euthanasia list. But even after everything she’s been through, she is still incredibly loving, still hopeful, and still ready to trust again. She’s been in foster care far too long… just waiting for someone to finally choose her. Personality Sweet, gentle, and a little timid at first Blossoms beautifully with patience and love Deeply affectionate once she feels safe Quiet, soulful, and incredibly loyal Just wants to be close to her person Good With Dogs ✅ Cats ✅ (has lived with them) Kids ⚠️ Best with older, respectful kids Ideal Home Honeydew doesn’t need chaos — she needs kindness, patience, and someone who will let her truly be a dog again. A calm home where she can: Build confidence Feel safe and secure Finally relax into the life she deserves Medical Spayed Up to date on vaccinations Healthy and ready for her forever Location Fostered in Nevada City, CA Transport available Why Honeydew Because she’s the one who didn’t get chosen… but will love you like you were always meant to be hers.
