My name is Penguin. I was living in a home with very dangerous dogs, which terrified me. I was very lucky that KSC agreed to take me in and get me put out of that horrible situation. I am still quite nervous and scared at times. I did spend some time in a fabulous KSC foster home which helped me relax a bit. What I really need is a cat savvy person who will be able to read my body language and know what I need. And of course they need to be patient with me please. I do like pets but sometimes get a bit overstimulated and might swat at you to let you know. Sometimes the trauma from my first home still haunts me. A quiet home where I am your one and only would be perfect for me to give me time to become the kitty I know I can be. Obviously NO DOGS. Small children also make me very nervous so no children either. When a person comes to the adoption center or mobile site, they fill out an application and a volunteer interview them and ask about your cat knowledge and experience as well as other pets. Applications go through an approval process. We help match the cat with each family according to home environment and lifestyle. Some adult cats may be adopted singly, but we prefer to adopt out kittens in pairs unless adopters have a playful cat or dog already in residence to keep the kitten company. Once a cat is adopted an adoption contract is completed. King Street Cats asks for a $125 non-refundable adoption fee to adopt a cat or kitten, or $225 to adopt two. All cats has been to a vet and tested for FELV/FIV. Adult cats are up-to-date on vaccinations. Kittens will have had vaccinations appropriate for their age. All cats & kittens are spayed or neutered before they are placed for adoption.
