In the shelter’s words
Steele is a handsome, happy guy with lots of personality and zest for life. He loves being on the move and would be thrilled to have a home with a big yard and plenty of opportunities for walks and outdoor adventures—those are his favorite! Steele is a playful, energetic boy who enjoys rough-and-tumble fun, so he’d do best in a home without young children or smaller pets. A dog friend his own size and energy level could be a great fit, though! He’s looking for an owner who’s patient, active, and excited to help him learn and stay engaged. He’s fully potty trained, trusted to free-roam in his foster home, and already knows some basic commands like sit and shake. Steele is very food-motivated and eager to please, which makes training enjoyable and rewarding. When his energy is spent, he’s more than happy to kick back and claim his spot on the couch! Steele came to the rescue heartworm positive, but he has completed treatment with our veterinarian and is now healthy. He will need to stay on monthly prescription heartworm prevention year-round to keep him feeling his best. If you’re looking for an active, affectionate companion with lots of love (and personality!) to give, Steele may be your perfect match. Steele's adoption fee is $250 and includes his neuter, microchip, current vaccinations and preventatives. Steele is seeking an indoor only home, if you are interested in meeting him please submit an adoption application through the website for consideration (Adopthope.org). Last Hope requires that all animals be kept as indoor pets only, be altered and kept current on vaccinations and preventatives for consideration.

Shelter-listed fee: $250
Prior to adoption, all of our dogs have been tested for heartworm, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. Our adoption process includes reference and background checks, a vet check and home visit. The adoption fee for dogs and puppies varies. Prior to adoption, our cats have been tested for feline leukemia, current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, and spayed or neutered, if age appropriate. If at the time of adoption, the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered, an agreed upon time frame will be set for when this procedure is to be done. Spaying or neutering is not an optional procedure, it is required of all animals we rescue. The adoption fee for cats and kittens varies.
