In the shelter’s words
Gigi Grace--or Grace, as we call her--can be calm and is always affectionate, once she gets to know you. She is my shadow. She follows me everywhere, and when I sit down, she jumps in my lap. She loves to nap curled up next to me. If she's not on my lap, she is on the floor right next to me. However, she is also very playful, especially lately, since she is now used to us and fully recovered from her surgery (spaying). After breakfast, she likes to play with our other dachshund. She also has a particular toy that she likes. She will shake it and run around with it and play tug-of-war with me. She LOVES to run around the yard. She tries to get the collie to chase her, and she loves to chase the ball. Grace is pretty much house trained. The only time she's had accidents is when we leave the house for a few hours. I am working on getting her to use the pee pad during those times. It's going well, but she's not 100% perfect yet. Grace does not seem to have any separation anxiety, but she has two other dogs here to hang around with when we're gone. No destructive behaviors (like chewing); no excessive barking. The only time she barks is when someone comes to the house. She is good on the leash and in the car. We have really loved having her with us. She has been really easy to take care of.

Plan a visit with the source organization
Our Web site contains full details. We have all of our dogs (pictures/bios) on the site. Potential adopters need to completely fill out the application. Our Adoption Committee reviews and contacts the potential adopter to get the specifics. The committee also conducts the reference checks. Once this is complete, the committee sets up a home visit and finally, the team will set up a meet greet with the adopter and family to meet the Dachshund. All of our dogs are in foster homes with our volunteers so there isn't one central location.
