Meet Emma Kay! Emma Kay is a 2.5-year-old sweetheart who’s equal parts cuddle bug and sunshine lover. After spending about a year and a half in a shelter, she’s more than ready to enjoy the good life—think soft beds, fresh air, and plenty of love. She has a calm, easygoing vibe and isn’t much of a barker. Honestly, she prefers to keep things low-key—whether that’s hanging by your side or stretching out in the sun like she’s on permanent vacation. She’s currently rocking her “extra love” era, but now that she’s out of the shelter and has room to move, she’s already working on her glow-up. Between her love of the outdoors and a little more freedom, she’s well on her way to her best life (and figure). Emma Kay is the best of both worlds—she loves attention and will happily soak up all the affection, but she’s also totally content doing her own thing nearby. Independent queen energy… with a soft spot for cuddles. If you’re looking for a sweet, calm companion who just wants love, sunshine, and a cozy place to call home, Emma Kay is ready to move in.

Applicants must fill out an application at www.adoptapitrescue.org/apply. We screen all applications, with approved applicants passing a vet and landlord check. All pets in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on all vaccinations and on year-round heartworm preventative. Non-homeowners must have permission from their landlord to have a dog. Once approved, we schedule a home visit, where an adoption representative takes the dog to the adopter's home to see if the dog is a good fit for the family and other pets, as well as verify the home is a safe environment for the dog. If everyone feels the dog is a good fit, a contract is signed, adoption fee is paid, and the family takes possession of the dog, unless other arrangements are made. Typical adoption fees are $175 for adult dogs and $200 for puppies. We reserve the right to charge different fees for "designer" breeds. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested, and on heartworm preventative at the time of adoption. All dogs have been examined by our veterinarian and given a clean bill of health at the time of adoption.
