In the shelter’s words

Evie is an adventurous, affectionate, intelligent 2 year old dog. She is lovingly called “velvet hippo” by volunteers and staff due to her soft, velvety fur and classic pittie personality. Evie has had positive experiences with children and dogs.Evie has a moderate activity level. She walks nicely on leash and loves going on outdoor adventures and sniffing everything she possibly can. She would be happy to join you on a hike or long walk, but doesn’t require a lot of intense daily exercise. She is happy with a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood, then settles down immediately for lots of cuddles and a nap.Evie loves to use her brain and is very smart. She has responded incredibly well to clicker training and learns new concepts quickly. She is working on crate training, manners when greeting people, and impulse control. She has a big heart and a whole lot of love to give. Because of that, she has big emotions that she sometimes doesn’t know what to do with. When she sees someone she loves, she gets very excited and struggles to control her reaction which leads to jumping up on people. However, it’s easy to see that Evie wants to do better. She knows what her handler expects of her and quickly realizes she is supposed to sit calmly when greeting people. She just needs a little patience and extra guidance to be reminded of what the acceptable behavior is.Come meet Evie and you will immediately fall in love with her affectionate, goofy personality.
